What Plus adds to the SnoreRx design
SnoreRx Plus is a boil-and-bite mandibular advancement device. Heated impression material molds around the upper and lower teeth; an adjustment mechanism then advances the lower jaw in 1 mm increments. Compared with the standard SnoreRx, Plus is designed to allow more vertical jaw movement and to separate for cleaning.
Fine adjustment is useful because more advancement is not automatically better. The goal is the lowest setting that meaningfully reduces snoring while remaining tolerable—not the farthest position the device permits.
FDA record: read the name precisely
The FDA database lists SnoreRx under 510(k) K170825 as a Class II anti-snoring device. The current manufacturer markets SnoreRx Plus as FDA-cleared. The database entry is for “SnoreRx,” so we do not invent a separate Plus clearance number.
Its intended role is reducing snoring. Manufacturer instructions state that SnoreRx Plus is not for treating sleep apnea and list important dental and respiratory exclusions.
Fitting and adjustment
- Keep the device at its factory setting during the boil-and-bite impression.
- Heat it for the exact time in the current instructions.
- Center the upper and lower teeth and create a defined impression.
- Cool the material completely before removing the fitting handle.
- Begin at the initial setting and advance only in 1 mm steps after several nights at each position.
The official instructions warn that overheating can damage the device and that the impression process has a limited number of attempts. Read the included booklet rather than relying on a summarized fitting video.
Who should not self-fit it casually?
SnoreRx instructions exclude or caution people under 18, those with central sleep apnea, respiratory disorders, a history of temporomandibular disorder, loose teeth, abscesses, severe gum disease, advanced periodontal disease, dentures, braces, or other dental appliances. Crowns, caps, bridges, and implants require dental judgment.
Listed potential effects include dental or gum soreness, temporomandibular-joint pain, obstructed oral breathing, excess salivation, tooth movement, and changes in dental occlusion. These warnings matter more than a retailer’s star average.
